Welcome to the Tyler County Museum
The first county high school in West Virginia

The Tyler County Museum was the former Tyler County High School which closed its doors in 1993.  It was purchased by the Tyler County Heritage and Historical Society and opened as the Tyler County Museum in 1994.

Enjoy touring this site and see what we have at the museum.  We hope you will decide to come to Middlebourne, WV and visit in person.  We'll try to include pictures of each room - just enough to entice you to visit. We'll also include specific information about our organization and its members, so no one forgets the people behind the pictures.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Tyler County Heritage & Historical Society is to research and preserve the history of Tyler County and all the people with ties to Tyler County.  This is achieved, in part, through a quarterly newsletter and in the preservation of historical artifacts in the Tyler County Museum.

This was the first county high school system in West Virginia.  The building was 100 years old in August, 2008.
