Tour the Museum

The Virginia Legislature appropriated funds to build the Sistersville-Salem Turnpike Road. After nearly ten years, the road was completed in 1848, with toll booths located approximately every five miles.

This replica of a toll booth was constructed by Dale Berisford.  The windows and door are from the Pursley Toll Booth, donated by William Goodfellow of Pursley, Tyler County, West Virginia and sits on the museum lawn.

Stop on by the museum to tour the toll booth.
